MSM Dean Director Wim Naudé

The past month wonderfully illustrated what makes MSM so unique. We bridge theory and practice, link managers across continents, and build the capacity education institutions in emerging economies like few others. From gathering leading scholars in women entrepreneurship, to leading Ethiopian higher-education leaders to China, to pioneering a business-to-business delegation from The Netherlands to Azerbaijan, and to train senior government officials from Indonesia: it all happened at MSM in recent weeks. And, as I experienced at the Association of MBA’s (AMBA's) Dean’s Conference in Paris, MSM is one of the fewer than 2% business schools in the world with an AMBA accreditation. MSM Seminar looks at best policies and practices in promoting women’s entrepreneurship

MSM looks back at a successful seminar tagged ‘Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship: Which Policies & Practices Work Best’ held at MSM on 8-9 May 2014. This international policy and research seminar was organized in co-operation with the Maastricht Centre for Entrepreneurship (MC4E) of Maastricht University for entrepreneurs from the Netherlands and developing countries, academic researchers, policy actors and development practitioners from leading institutions and organizations.

AMBA’s Deans & Directors Conference 2014 – The core of the MBA remains face-to-face

From 28 to 30 April MsM Dean Director Professor Wim Naudé attended the Association of MBA’s International Conference for Deans and Directors. The conference, which took place in Paris, had the highest ever attendance, attracting over 250 delegates from 127 business schools in 47 countries. Under the banner ‘MBA Education – Views from the Top’, the conference discussed the challenges and opportunities business school Deans and MBA Directors face in MBA Education in 2014/2015 and onwards.

Ms. Kati Kovacs, MSM’s Associate Dean for Quality Assurance and Services attended the Higher Education Institutions Conference themed "Quality & Governance in Higher Education Conference: Strategy & Competitiveness" on 8 and 9 May in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The conference was organized by Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) in collaboration with ZSEM Business Academy as well as the Agency for Science and Higher Education.

We are delighted to announce that our annual Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday 4 September of this year. On this occasion, the degrees of Master of Business Administration, Executive Master of Business Administration, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Business Administration will be awarded.

Indonesian Supervisory and Financial Development Board receive training in change management

A group of 16 senior civil servants from the Supervisory and Financial Development Board (BPKP) from the Republic of Indonesia followed a tailored program on Change Management at MSM on 12-16 May. In the framework of the bureaucratic reform of the Indonesian public sector, BPKP’s traditional auditing role has been expanded to include effective guidance, advice, and consultancy. For BPKP this development entails a major shift in focus and the need to reconsider its ways of working. The training program in the Netherlands was seen as a starting point in this complex process.

MSM Mission Huge Boost for Dutch-Azerbaijan Business

A delegation of 20 Dutch businessmen, political and educational leaders visited Azerbaijan from 22 - 26 April in the framework of an MSM-led business mission. During their visit, they received an exceptional honor from the President of Azerbaijan, met with six ministers, 160+ entrepreneurs, academics, CEOs of large state corporations, and had the opportunity to inspect the Sangachal Oil Terminal and to take part in one of largest ever King's Day ceremonies in the Caucasus.

MSM links China–Africa Higher Education

From 12 – 23 April, a delegation of 12 (Vice-) Presidents of Ethiopian Public Universities and the Director General of the Education Strategy Center of Ethiopia visited several higher education institutes in Beijing and Shanghai, China. This study visit was initiated by MSM in the context of a NUFFIC-funded multi-year program to enhance leadership and management capacities, and was coordinated by the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE).

Liesbeth Bakker is a young Dutch entrepreneur from the northern Province of Friesland who after having lived and gained business knowledge and experience in Spain, France and Switzerland, moved to Kenya in November 2013. She now runs The Hub East Africa, an organization aiming to help local talents in Kenya to set up social and economically sustainable businesses. In 2013, Liesbeth took the Project Identification, Development and Management (PDM) program at MSM. This proved to be a decisive experience.
