MSM is not a ‘big’ school in terms of staff and faculty, yet it has a disproportionate global impact. It does so through team work, networking and being innovative. You will read about this in this newsletter. Let me state however that the staff and faculty at MSM work tremendously hard, often under high levels of stress. They do things right. But they also do the right things and that is why they cope and indeed thrive on the pressure that comes from being part of an innovative global business school. The spark that ignites everyone’s passion is our students, each contributing to the greater good with their worlds, wisdoms and wit that they bring with them. When we receive international recognition, as we did this month from AMBA, Eduniversal and the GBSN, it is ultimately a salute to all our students and alumni. Read further >

MSM awarded third prize in prestigious AMBA awards competition |

MSM has been awarded the 3rd prize in the Final of the annual MBA Innovation Award organized by the Association of MBA’s (AMBA). The AMBA MBA Innovation Award recognizes new practices, risks, and creativity in AMBA-accredited programs. MSMs contribution to promote the MBA in developing and emerging countries has been the reason for having received this recognition. MSM is one of only around 1.5% of business schools with the coveted AMBA accreditation. Read further >

Fostering entrepreneurial youth: MSM at UNIDO |

MSM’s Dean, Professor Wim Naudé gave a keynote speech at the international conference on “Fostering Entrepreneurial Youth”, organized and hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria, on 13 November 2014. Focusing on what is needed for “An Entrepreneurial Society for the Youth in Africa”, Professor Naudé shared some findings from recent research on rural entrepreneurship in Africa, conducted by Paula Nagler and Wim Naudé. A First for Macedonia |

At a high-level ceremony held on Wednesday 12 November in Skopje, Macedonia, which was attended by the Minister of Education of Macedonia, MSM Dean Professor Wim Naudé and Rector of the University American College Skopje (UACS) Professor Marjan Bojadziev formally announced the launch of MSM internationally accredited Global MBA program in Macedonia – the first of its kind. This month two DBA candidates successfully defended their Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) thesis at MSM. Mr. Joseph Walusimbi from Uganda undertook a study on the “Applicability of the High Performance Partnership Framework on Performance Growth of Producer Firms in Commercial Forestry: A Study of Cluster Dynamics in Tanzania and Uganda”, and Ms. Asmaa Mohamed Salah Ibrahim's research focused on “Leadership Approaches in Multinational Companies: An Egyptian Case Study”. For Ms. Ibrahim, the DBA was the by default step after her MBA: “One of my professors recommended me the MSM DBA program and I found it very interesting and enriching. It offers very helpful courses during the research phase. It is run by highly qualified and professional professors who work with clear guidelines and deadlines. MSM's Assistant Professor of Sustainable Business, Ms. Jakomijn van Wijk, is currently working as a guest editor of a special issue of Business & Society, one of the leading journals at the intersection of business and issues of social responsibility, ethics and governance. The special issue has a focus on "Social Innovation: Insights from Institutional Theory" which reflects very well on Jakomijn's research interest: processes of institutional change towards sustainability, partnership networks in global value chains and entrepreneurship for inclusive development.
