Nuffic grants food & nutrition security tender in Rwanda to MSM

Together with its consortium partners, MSM has been awarded the Nuffic OKP tender for Rwanda. In this so-called SEAD-West project MSM will work in close cooperation with Mott McDonald and RDB (Rwanda Development Board). The project will contribute to food & nutrition security by strengthening technical and vocational education that enables integrated food chains to be developed around the horticulture, dairy and poultry value chains in the Western province.

The SEAD-West project is strongly aligned to the currently running SEAD project under NICHE. Where SEAD is focusing on the poultry, dairy, horticulture and potato value chains in the Northern, Eastern and Southern provinces, SEAD-West is contributing to food & nutrition security in Western province of Rwanda.

The project will build new and strengthen existing partnerships to boost agricultural value chain development and ensures equal opportunities, labor market relevance and strengthening management of the chain actors for sustainability.

There will also be a strong focus on bringing the triple helix partners (education, private sector and government) together in a STIC (Service, Training and Innovation Centre). This to strengthen the economic results of the project’s value chains, to support the Dutch private agricultural sector and to allow opportunities for cooperation between partners beyond the scope of the project.

To successfully implement SEAD-West, consortia from both sides were built to guarantee the availability of required expertise and create synergies with relevant projects and networks, such as SEAD, HortInvest and Water4Growth.

The project will run from January 2019 until December 2021 and will be managed by Rita van Deuren, International Project Consultant at MSM and Rob van de Gevel, Senior Education Advisor at Mott MacDonald.

Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme
The 3-year Sead-West project will be developed through a grant from the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) from Nuffic. The OKP aims to contribute to a society’s sustainable and inclusive development by offering access to education and training to professionals and organizations.
