MSM MBA Specialization Summer School - a vibrant learning experience

From 6 – 20 July MSM welcomed more than 130 participants from 40 nationalities to the MSM Summer Specialization courses. The group consisted of participants from MSM’s residential full-time MBA, Executive MBA, Online MBA, and from MSM’s global partners as well as external participants.

On 6 July, the students received a warm welcome by Mr. David Cass, Director Education and Executive Development before the classes kicked off.

Mr. Monah Mourad from Lebanon highly appreciated the knowledge he gained in the Accounting & Finance specialization“I found it great and would recommend it to everyone. Although I have 21 years of experience I think it is important to upgrade yourself with new academic knowledge and tools which you can use in your job”.

Apart from the specialization Accounting & Finance, courses were given in International Business & Sustainable DevelopmentThe Digital EconomyEntrepreneurship, and Healthcare Management.

The MBA specialization courses consisted of a mix of interactive classes, group assignments and related work visits. Mr. Bela Szabo from SEED, MSM’s partner in Hungary, was very happy with all the different elements he experienced during the Entrepreneurship specialization courses: “I truly loved it, we discussed a lot of topics, shared many experiences, conducted practical assignments and presentations, and visited local companies.”

From MSM’s global partner network, we welcomed MBA students from SEED Hungary, HRD Kuwait, Mahan Business School (MBS) Iran, Regional Information Technology Institute (RITI) Egypt, School of Industrial Management (SIM) Vietnam, CENTRUM Católica Graduate Business School Peru, and participants from Hochschule Reutlingen, creating a truly international and diverse learning experience.

“We were quite an international group with participants from many different countries, which enabled us to combine different thoughts and cultural insights”, said Mr. Szabo. “We could also learn from each other’s markets which is very important and interesting for an entrepreneur.”

To connect theory to practice, the students enjoyed guest lectures and work visits related to the topic of their specializations. The students of the International Business & Sustainable Development specialization contributed to a better environment by participating in a work visit to Plastic Whale in Amsterdam, where they went out fishing for plastic. “It was really a very good experience to go through, to actually go with the boat and fish plastic. Even the boats were made of recycled plastic, which is going to be better for the environment than just throwing plastic bottles everywhere”, said Rania Elzainey from RITI Egypt.

Other work visits conducted, were to Digital Capability Center Aachen - McKinsey & CompanyiLab BrightlandsQuookerArion GroupCity Hall RoermondRonald McDonald KindervalleiPrinses Máxima Center for Pediatric OncologyUtrecht Science Park and WPE Essen.

As a participant in the Healthcare Management specialization, Ms. Anh Ho Tram from SIM Vietnam joined the work visit to the Prinses Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht. “I was so impressed with the management; it is well managed and cared to every detail. The most impressive feeling I have is that the governance is built BY the organization, the parents and the children, and it is FOR the parents and the children.”
