Creating a sustainable business environment – MSM Executive MBA participants learn all about Global Responsibility

Recently the fourth Executive MBA module of the year, this time about Global Responsibility, took place at MSM. Current participant, Constantin de Vries, fully enjoyed the module. "I learned the importance of creating a corporate strategy that enhances relationships with all stakeholders while creating a better and sustainable business environment.”

The Executive MBA is perfectly designed for working professionals. There are four modules each year in January, April, June and October consisting of interactive lectures, group assignments, guest lecturers and work visits. “The MSM Executive MBA gives me the opportunity to study next to my work and I have already gained a lot of knowledge which I can immediately apply to the daily practice of my organization,” said Constantin. To allow you to customize your MBA around your specific study needs and career perspectives, MSM offers a number of business-related and industry-focused specializations.

The module on Global Responsibility consisted of courses in Global Responsibility & Ethics and Managing Cultural Diversity and a work visit to Philips. The participants gained a better understanding of the interplay between business, governments and society in a globalized world. Customers, suppliers, employees, citizens and media expect companies to provide a contribution to the challenges of the 21st century such as climate change, resource scarcity and urbanization. Hence, organizations should consider social, economic and environmental issues in their strategy and daily operations. “Having more knowledge of CSR gives me the responsibility to help others become more aware, and create more value for customers as well as society,” Constantin states.

For him joining the Executive MBA was a lifelong learning decision. “I noticed that I gained a great deal of in-depth knowledge in my own field of expertise. I missed a broader knowledge of elements within my corporate environment that impacts my work.”

The Managing Cultural Diversity classes provided the participants with a conceptual and practical understanding of the role of culture and diversity in the achievement of an organization’s strategy. The classes paid specific attention to the complexity of managing people in a cross-cultural environment. The course provided hands-on insights into the impact of cultural factors in management and business, intercultural communication, working with cross-cultural teams, and international HR management.

“The broad aspect of all the modules is highly interesting because it gives you a deeper understanding as well as tools on how to effectively create value within a business”, according to Constantin de Vries.
