Dairy and horticulture sector development in Kenya: MSM leads new project

MSM will soon embark on a four- year project to support the development of the Latia Resource Centre (LRC) in Kenya. The project is in collaboration with the Centre for Development Innovation at Wageningen University and the Dairy Training Institute.  Work of the LRC will be supported through curriculum development, organizational capacity strengthening in management and planning, and extension of private sector linkages.

The new project will address the needs of the agro-industry sector in three main areas: Dairy, Horticulture and Piggery. Training courses will be developed to support LRC operations, and will target the effectiveness of educational operations in the light of labor-market requirements.
The organizational capacity strengthening component will assist the strategic position of the LRC as the interface between the agricultural educational system and the agro-industry sector. In this role, it will support various initiatives to be as effective as possible in addressing requirements from both sides, while operating in a sustainable manner.
