International Dutch soccer legend to become ambassador for Sports Management MBA

International Dutch soccer legend, Hans van Breukelen, and Camil Smeulders, founder and board member of the Orange Sports Forum visited MSM on 6 March 2015 to discuss their involvement in the promotion of a joint MSM and UM MBA program in Sports Management.

They were welcomed at MSM by Aad van Mourik, Director Maastricht Education Programs, and Ron Jacobs, Project Manager at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics.

Van Mourik and Jacobs said that it was an honor for MSM and UM to have the commitment of Hans van Breukelen and the Orange Sports Forum for this program. Hans van Breukelen will serve as an ambassador for the program and Camil Smeulders will represent the Orange Sports Forum in the program. The Orange Sports Forum is a platform for the promotion of companies, organizations and institutions affiliated with Dutch sports.

The MBA in Sports Management will be designed for top athletes and for all those seeking to fulfill management positions in sports. South Limburg offers many possibilities for top athletes, e.g. in soccer and horse-riding.

Following the official meeting, a spontaneous meet-and-greet with the MBA31 class was organized when two students recognized Hans van Breukelen in the hallway. The students and their German Professor, Matthias Fifka, enjoyed this occasion to speak with the Dutch soccer star about his international career.
