From Peru to Maastricht: International MBAs immersed in European business

For more than a decade MSM is collaborating with CENTRUM Católica Graduate Business School in Peru, the number one ranked business school in Latin America. Last week 31 Peruvian participants in our joint international MBA program completed the four-week program at MSM.

In the words of one of the MBA participants, Mr. Carlos Luna, “Studying at MSM was an amazing experience. I enjoyed learning from professors from other cultures in a different continent. The quality of the lectures have been beyond my expectations, and I believe my knowledge thanks to the MSM courses has increased a lot. Not only I was excited to learn from great professors, but I also noticed they were very excited to teach us and get different point of view from a group that lives far away. The work visits were related to the courses. The city of Maastricht is a great place to visit, study and even live. I hope to come back soon and visit such a wonderful place again”.

In addition to the formal academic curriculum, consisting of the coursesBusiness in the Global Arena, Leadership, Change & Responsibility, and Global Supply Chain Management, the Peruvian MBA participants attended a CSR workshop together with the residential MBAs. In this workshop Ms. Sacha Oerlemans, Corporate Director Marketing & Communications at Q-Park NV, gave a presentation on the Best Practices on CSR. After de presentation the participants worked on a real case in groups.

Greenport Inner harborThe Peruvian MBA participants also visited and networked with a number of local companies and international organizations, among which the EU in Brussels and Greenport Venlo. At Greenport Venlo, they visited the inner-harbor and the invocation center where they were inspired by Bright Box, an expertise center for daylight-free multi-layer cultivation.  At IKEA, the Swedish multinational specialized in designing and selling ready-to-assemble furniture, they had the opportunity to learn about the company’s marketing strategy.

At the European Commission in Brussels, only a short distance from MSM, the MBA participants attended two presentations by Jose Cruz Rodriguez, Policy Officer, on the Role of the European Commission, and Internationalization of SMEs to Latin America.

About the experience of studying at MSM, Mr. Franco Riva says: “It was an outstanding experience. Being able to know and live in another country and culture is an experience everyone should have at least once”.
