An evening of bonding through food and music

The international dinner at MSM on Thursday 24 September was one of the highlights of the Introduction Weeks of the new academic year. Students from the new MBA32 class and participants from the Executive Programs PMPDM and RMS demonstrated their cooking talents by hosting a superb buffet of culinary specialties from their home countries for MSM students and staff.

The event took place in the MSM Business Lounge and welcomed not only students from one-year full-time MBA and the Executive Programs, but also from the MSc in Management and Engineering that MSM runs together with RWTH Aachen University.

Intercultural dinner 2There were dishes from many countries and regions of the world, from Peru to Mexico, India, China, Yemen, Germany and the Netherlands, to name but a few. It was obvious that many hours of preparation and cooking had gone into this result, and the students’ eyes betrayed a lot of pride as they explained the exotic names of the various recipes.

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the beautiful, colorful home country outfits many of the students were wearing and the lively world music selected by the DJ of the evening, Reuben Walobele from Zambia. After the meal, many students started dancing together to African, Indian and South American tunes, some showing the lead, other following, and everyone smiling and taking photos of each other.

Each year, the international dinner is a privileged opportunity for bonding among new students, as they are in charge of the organization of the entire event and fully embrace the chance to share their various cultures with each other and with the MSM staff through food and music.
