Welcoming no less than 31 students into the program, Dean Naudé indicated that it was his privilege to meet so many extremely well qualified and motivated students – many with doctorate degrees, and all well-entrenched in the medical sector in China. “The health sector in China is undergoing tremendous change”, Naudé said, explaining that “as the country gets more affluent and the old-age population growing, the demand for different types and better quality healthcare is increasing”.  As a result, there is also a strong demand for managers and entrepreneurs to contribute to the expansion and development of the healthcare system.

Dean Naudé also welcomed fifteen new guest professors into the program; all are experienced and highly qualified practitioners in the field of healthcare in China.

Prof. Dr. Wang Yonghong, CPC General Secretary and Director of the Health and Family Planning Commission, of Jiangsu Province, spoke on behalf of newly appointed guest professors. She told the audience that Jiangsu Province has been chosen by the Central Government to pilot the healthcare reform project. To successfully respond to the challenges confronting healthcare sector, such as changing demographic, emergence of new technology, pressures on funding, just to name a few, healthcare professionals need not only medical expertise, but also management knowledge and skills. Dr. Wang believes this new EMBA program answers to the training needs of healthcare professionals in China in a timely manner.
