MSM alumni attend the NFP Conference in Jakarta

MSM alumni attended the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) Alumni Conference hosted by EP-Nuffic which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia on 26-28 October 2015. In total 110 NFP alumni from six member countries of the ASEAN region: Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia, were selected by EP-Nuffic to participate in the event.

The MSM alumni were glad to meet, greet, dine and take pictures with each other during the NFP conference. “It was also an interesting challenge during the event to identify who from among the 110 delegates were alumni of Maastricht School of Management (MSM), the university in The Netherlands where we went to”, they explained.

On the first day, roundtable discussions were held with officers and members of alumni associations (AAs) on good practices in running AAs and on how to strengthen local and regional networks together with EP-Nuffic.

The Dutch Ambassador in Jakarta, Mr. Rob Swartbol welcomed the delegates and EP-Nuffic Director, Mr. Theo Hooghiemstra opened the ceremonies on the second day.  The keynote speaker was Dr. AKP Mochtan, Deputy Secretary-General of the ASEAN Secretariat who tackled the subject of cooperation within the ASEAN Region. Group discussions ensued on how the Holland Alumni Network and the alumni themselves can stimulate cooperation within ASEAN and between ASEAN countries and the Netherlands, in the economic, education and social sectors.

On the final day, thematic roundtable sessions were conducted in the fields of water, agriculture, urban development and global health focusing on opportunities for regional cooperation.
