“From Good to Gold”: MSM’s Executive MBA in Sports Management a game changer

Maastricht School of Management’s (MSM) much-lauded Executive MBA in Sports Management started on Monday 18 January 2016 on a very high note. A dozen very motivated participants, from countries such as the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland arrived excited at MSM’s Maastricht campus to a warm welcome from MSMs Dean, staff, key faculty and partners from the sport industry.

In a specially recorded video for the participants, Mr.  Hans van Breukelen, who is an ambassador for the program, emphasized the need for good leaders in the sports industry and stated that the MSM Executive MBA in Sports Management will equip the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a good leader in the sport industry. The Executive MBA in Sports Management is internationally accredited and domestically accredited by the NVAO and the best of its kind in the Netherlands.

In the afternoon the participants visited the Fitland Sport Complex in Sittard, were they took part in a challenging workshop held by Marc Lammers, professional field hockey coach who led the Dutch field hockey team to the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He has taken his vast experience in coaching and turned it into practical lessons in business, specifically in the area of Change Management. He shared his knowledge and experience with the participants during a presentation titled: “From Good to Gold”.

The participants closed the day at the Sports and Innovation event organized by TopSport Limburg, where the newest innovations in the sports industry were presented. MSM Dean Professor Wim Naudé was invited to highlight the MSM Executive MBA in Sports Management as one of the innovative developments in the Limburg sport industry, and moreover as one that will be a game-changer in supporting the development of sport as a key industry in Limburg and the Netherlands.

The Province of Limburg supports the program through provision of scholarships, and national partners of the program include Amsterdam ArenA, KMPG, AON, FIBA Media & Marketing Services, Hypercube en Impeco.
