E-Government at MSM: how to lead e-Government projects
The 2016 Executive Education program on e-Government received participants from locations as close to Maastricht as Morocco and as far as Kalimantan, Indonesia. The first week of the program focused on e-Government research frameworks and e-Government policies for increased responsiveness. The second week emphasized, after an orientation on factors contributing to project success, on the adequate formulation and the sustained implementation of e-Government projects.
During the program, the participants enjoyed several work visits and different seminar sessions, with different internal and guest lecturers. Morten Meyerhoff Nielsen, an international expert on e-Government conducted a series of interactive workshops highlighting the relation between e-Government and Good Governance, the needs from a public sector and a user (citizen, business) perspective and its implications for the back-office and front office, the personalized and involving e-government (e.g. through social media). Mahmoud Al-Sheemy, MSM alumnus, and presently employed by Huawei Technologies in Amsterdam, presented a synopsis of his distinction MBA Master Thesis on e-Government and Service Quality in Qatar, and discussed, through an interactive class session, the hybrid roles of e-Government project managers.
The participants shared and worked with great dedication on the integrating assignment, in which the lessons learned from the seminars, work visits and real-life cases were incorporated. This resulted in six different e-Government related policy or project proposals. Their presentation concluded the two-week program.
