Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets: MSM leads the way

It is no exaggeration to state that Maastricht School of Management (MSM) is the leading business school in the Netherlands in teaching and researching Business and Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets. With MBAExecutive MBA and DBA programs offered in partnership with leading businesses schools from rapidly developing countries such as Azerbaijan, China, Peru, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and being active in research in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, MSM has an unparalleled wealth of experts, networks and data to draw on.

One group of students that recently benefitted from this were the students who took the MBA specialization course “Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets” at MSM’s Maastricht campus.

MSM Dean, Professor Wim Naudé, who also holds a chair in Business and Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets at Maastricht University, and whose research and publications on entrepreneurship and development is widely quoted and used in entrepreneurship teaching worldwide, welcomed as a guest lecturer to the program Dr. Besnik Krasniqi, PhD, who also will be joining MSM’s adjunct faculty.

Dr. Krasniqi, a Fulbright Scholar, holds an MA and PhD in Economics from Staffordshire University (UK). He has authored several books; numerous research reports and consultancy assignments. His research work in the area of entrepreneurship, firm growth, institutions, SME finance, informal economy, transition and emerging economies appeared in international journals such as Small Bus EconInt Entrep Manag J. He is also a cofounder and director of the Business Support Centre in Kosovo (http://www.bsckosovo.org).

In addition to its specialization modules on entrepreneurship in emerging markets in the MBA program, MSM also offers Executive Education on women entrepreneurship promotion, on doing business in West Africa, and conducts a wide range of research projects on strengthening entrepreneurship in developing countries. MSM has also developed a range of tailor-made programs towards the development of entrepreneurship, including programs for Agri-business and Agri-entrepreneurship promotion.

MSM currently has two open ‘calls for papers’ on topics related to entrepreneurship in emerging markets.

The first is for its 6th Annual Research Conference, which is this year on a theme that includes entrepreneurship in Eurasia, namely, on ‘The Rise of EurasiaNew Perspectives on East-West Business and Economic Relations’. The conference will be held on 9 September 2016, MSM, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

The second is for a call for papers for a Special Issue of the Small Business Economics Journal on Forced Migration, Enterprise and Development. Small Business Economics Journal is a leading journal in the field of entrepreneurship (impact factor 1.795).
