MSM-RWTH’s Masters of Science in Management and Engineering growing in popularity

MSM Dean Professor Wim Naudé and RWTH Aachen Vice-Rector Professor Matte Brettel and colleagues recently welcomed a group of 85 new students from 25 countries into the Master of Science (MSc) programs in Management and Engineering (MME) that MSM and RWTH Aachen University jointly offer. The students, who started on 5 October on their 2-year joint programs, are following the MME programs in Electrical Power Systems, Production Systems, and Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering.  The first year of the program is done in Aachen, and the second in Maastricht.

More than a 1,000 students applied for these three Master in Science programs, reflecting the growing popularity, and reflecting also the high quality of the participants.

This is a unique trans-national educational partnership” said Prof. Naudé, mentioning that “it combines Dutch entrepreneurial flair with German precision engineering”.  The program also combines the global approach to business embedded in MSM’s 64-year history of working in and with emerging markets, with RWTH Aachen’s highly innovative education and research approach. Prof .Naudé referred in this regard to the recent Thomson Reuters ranking that put RWTH Aachen University in the top 100 most innovative European universities.

Prof. Naudé reminded the audience that the first joint MSc MME program was started in 2013, and has since then received more than 200 students. Students that graduate from RWTH’s MSc programs tend to

  • work at companies such as Anvis, BASF, Continental, Fiat, Ford, Kautex, Liebherr, Rolls Royce, Toyota, Volkswagen
  • find a job within 3 months after graduation (about 68%)
  • increase their salary by up to 100% (about 53 %).
