Big Data Analytics for Sport: MSM shares expertise on global platform

On 4 October 2016, Davy Cielen, Senior Lecturer in Business Data Analytics at MSM gave a presentation on “How sport clubs can make money from big data" at the 2nd International Conference on Performance Analytics & Fan Engagement that took place at the Congress Center Düsseldorf, Germany.

During his presentation Mr. Cielen discussed MSM’s activities and expertise in the field of big data and sport management to representatives from clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Ajax, Leicester and sports organizations like The Football Association (The FA), Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), Netherlands Ice Hockey Association (NIJB).

Davy’s speech focused on the fundamentals of how sport clubs and federations can boost their business performance and implement significant improvements in effectiveness using big data. He demonstrated ways how sport organization can establish new business models, increase existing revenue streams, and decrease costs. He illustrated the leveraging of existing data sources and developing new data-driven technologies to make the most out of big data.
