The entrepreneurial university

University representatives from DR Congo, Ghana, Japan, United Kingdom, and Yemen recently participated in a one-week training program on Entrepreneurial University Transformation at MSM, facilitated by MSM expert Huub Mudde. The novel approach helped the participants to assess their institutions and plan for the future.

During the intensive week, the group had the opportunity to learn from the experiences at MSM’s partner RWTH Aachen and got informed about the triple helix approach in the Limburg province.

The MSM Entrepreneurial University Transformation program addresses the need and challenges for higher education institutions to become more entrepreneurial, as many institutions are searching for strategies how to relate more effectively to labor market needs and innovative economic development. These institutions are looking for answers on important questions like: How to organize education in such a way that graduates have the best chance to be (self) employed, and how to organize knowledge transfer more effectively for the benefit of a broader society?

In particular in emerging economies and developing countries these questions are raised in a context of population growth with an increasing number of students, financial constraints and urgent need for innovation and economic growth. Struggling with these challenges, more and more institutions are laying emphasis on how to become more entrepreneurial. This is where the notion of an ‘entrepreneurial university’ becomes relevant. It brings entrepreneurship education to the next level of institutional development from an entrepreneurial perspective.

The next Entrepreneurial University Transformation course will take place from 26 – 30 June 2017. Applications are already open and can be submitted through our online application form.
