New partner: Executive MBA in Agribusiness at Jimma University, Ethiopia

Maastricht School of Management and Jimma University, Ethiopia recently signed a cooperation agreement to jointly offer an Executive MBA in Agribusiness in Ethiopia. The goals of the Executive MBA in Agribusiness are to increase the food security and agricultural growth of Ethiopia, to give better access to Ethiopians to more and more nutritious food and to increase the trade relations between Ethiopia and the Netherlands.

The spark for the cooperation were Agribusiness companies in Ethiopia who expressed the need for more managerial capacities in order to become more competitive in the global arena. This resulted in a project funded by the Netherlands government (EP-Nuffic), led by MSM. Wageningen UR (University & Research), Q-Point BV and Stellenbosch University (SUN)/Centre for Agribusiness and Leadership South-Africa are the consortium members. Besides the foreseen Executive MBA, efforts will be geared to carry out and publish research on Agribusiness. It is the ambition that by the end of the four-year project, a nationally and regionally renowned Centre of Excellence on Agribusiness will be sustainably operational at Jimma University.
