Meet MSM's newest colleagues

Maastricht School of Management (MSM) has welcomed six new staff members in the past few months to strengthen its ambition to provide education and advocacy for ethical management, inspiring leadership, innovative entrepreneurship and effective public policy. Below a briefly introduction of each one them and their variety in roles and skills:

Shiwen MaMs. Shiwen MA joined MSM as Quality Enhancement Officer. Shiwen holds a Bachelor in Hotel Management from Notenboom Business School in Maastricht (2010). Her areas of expertise are career development, career counselling, (international) recruitment, Customer Relations Management (CRM) and the hospitality industry.

Shiwen finds working in such an international environment as MSM, where students, faculty and staff come from different cultures and backgrounds, very inspiring and rewarding. For her, MSM is a business school with a strong mission and vision with a focus on emerging economies. Furthermore, she looks forward to further explore the world of quality assurance in higher education and is eager to learn from her talented colleagues.

Kim van HonkMs. Kim M. van Honk joined MSM as Admissions and Education officer. Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from New York University (2007) and a Master in Arts from Queens University in Belfast (2008). Prior to her career at MSM, Kim worked at the University of Newcastle in Australia.

The one thing Kim likes the most of MSM is the internationally oriented work environment.

Adriane Seclaman

Ms. Adriana Seclaman joined MSM as Officer Global Education Programs. Adriana holds a Bachelor’s degree on Economics from Bucharest University, Romania (2000), an MSc in Commercial Business Administration from Bucharest University, Romania (2003), a PhD in Management from Lucian Blaga University, Romania (2011) and a Master in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology from Maastricht University (2014).

What Adriana likes the most is MSM’s faculty’s focus on internationalization, diversification and innovation. “For me it is an honor to work with a team of such qualified and educated staff.” Besides the work at MSM Adriana has a broad range of interests like for instance, arts, reading, traveling, mountain hiking and photography.

MSM_EHMB1701300004Ms. Mashid Saifikar joined MSM as Secretary to the Examination Board replacing Frédérique Starmans (Senior Secretary to the MSM Examination Board) who is currently on maternity leave. Mashid studied Tax Law at Maastricht University and is currently finishing her Master’s degree in Indirect Tax Law.

Mashids experiences with MSM so far have been nothing but positive. “Working with colleagues from around the world, with different backgrounds in an environment where people respect and learn from each other is what I like the most”, she said. In Mashids spare time you can find her either cooking or enjoying a good meal with friends in a restaurant with an international cuisine. She is always curious about new recipes to try out herself.

 

Wendy MertensMs. Wendy Mertens joined the MSM Communications team as Communications officer. Prior to her job at MSM, Wendy gained several years of communications experience at DSM Innovation Center. Wendy has a MEAO diploma (Intermediate Vocational Education in the field of Economic Administration) (1998), a NIMA A (Communications) diploma (2011) and she is currently pursuing her NIMA B (Internal and Concern Communications) diploma. Wendy has experience in internal as well external communications, especially focused on DSM’s global science network to support cross-border collaboration, enable sharing of information, knowledge and experiences.

Wendy looks forward to further developing her external communications skills within the multicultural environment of MSM and to collaborate with various colleagues and partners to create the right messages and insights to reach MSM’s students around the globe. Not only focusing on the broad range of programs MSM is offering, but also about the internal proud of MSM’s colleagues and their passion about the future of global management education. In her spare time Wendy enjoys going out with family and friends. Furthermore, Wendy is a passionate runner. For her running is the ultimate way to clear her mind and get new inspirations.

MSM_EHMB1701300003Ms. Gwen Wulterkens recently joined MSM as Executive Secretary to the Management Team. Gwen started her career at international companies such as Walt Disney World and Coca-Cola Enterprises. Before joining MSM she worked as Executive Assistant to the CEO of Karl Lagerfeld and Personal Assistant to the former President of the European Council. Gwen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism & Event Management from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences.

Gwen has worked with and for people with different culture backgrounds which fits perfectly within the MSM environment. For her, “collaboration with such a diverse team opens you up for creative thinking and makes you think not only in limitations but in possibilities to move forward.” Outside work, Gwen loves to travel and to do sports. At the moment she is training for a mud run race in Düsseldorf and in Valkenburg, but the absolute number one on the bucket list is competing in the London Marathon in 2018.
