Entrepreneurship course for expat spouses

For expat spouses, it is not always easy to feel at home and find a new career in the Netherlands. For some, living in a new country means making a new start in their lives through realizing a dream they may have had for a long time: their own business.

That is why MSM has designed a unique course in Mastering Entrepreneurship: Opportunities for Expat Spouses. This specifically designed entrepreneurship course is the first of its kind in the Netherlands, and it is aimed at spouses of internationals who have a business idea.

Integration in the Dutch society and finding a job can be a challenge. Setting up a business as an expat is an option to make use of talents, build up a social and business network, and have the flexibility to combine work with pleasure. In setting up an enterprise, however, expats will encounter a different business culture, various regulations and other conditions. Furthermore, most of the websites and other information sources they consult are generally offered in Dutch, which makes it even harder to know how to start a business.

This English-language course will take expat spouses through the rules, regulations, business culture and customs of the Netherlands. In the five-day program, the participants work on their own business ideas and follow the steps of creating a business plan. Through hands-on training, in collaboration with experienced trainers and mentors, the course stimulates knowledge transfer and group learning. Individual work assignments provide the opportunity for participants to expand upon their business ideas. After the course, participants not only have a greater understanding about starting a business in the Netherlands and a more realistic view of their business idea, they have built up a network of colleagues.

– Autumn edition: 2 & 3 October, 30 & 31 October, 20 November
