Newsletter #6/2021

Introduction

2021 has been another turbulent year due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, during which we had to operate outside of our norms. Despite the disruptions, Maastricht School of Management still achieved many successes, and I wish to thank students, staff, and partners for their enthusiasm, sustained endurance and patience.

What remains steadfast at MSM is the commitment to working together for better global management and a more sustainable future. Just last week, we were proud to deliver a new batch of talented graduates fully equipped to embrace the ever-changing world of management and leadership. As you will read in this newsletter, this year’s Graduation ceremony was a remarkable event in many ways, and yet another opportunity to celebrate the increasingly important values of diversity and inclusion with our global community.

We also proudly look back at our annual Academic Conference in early December, which we had to adapt at the last minute to a fully virtual event, and applaud our joint Executive MBA program with Nanjing University for its top ranking among the “10 Best Sino-Foreign Joint Programs of Chinese Business Schools”.

We successfully adapted our education and training programs to changing circumstances in Maastricht and abroad in October and November. We offered our Executive Programs in Strategic Leadership and Change Management in a hybrid format. We delivered innovative tailor-made training programs in Ghana, the DRC, and South Africa. In the latter projects, participants learned to apply inclusive approaches and novel e-learning or audiovisual tools to enhance their competencies.

For now, I encourage you to use the holiday season to reflect, recharge, and celebrate all we have accomplished as individuals and as a community, and I hope that you will enjoy special moments with friends and family. Together with the MSM team, I look forward to seeing you (hopefully face-to-face) in our programs or meeting you during our next projects, events or online masterclasses.

My best wishes for a healthy and happy 2022!

With gratitude,

Meinhard Gans
Chief Executive Officer

During the program, I could always relate to the different modules and scenarios that play within my organization. It was exciting to get feedback from the lecturer and the participants who were always ready to share their experiences and best practices:” according to participant Kader Lafia Sero (Benin), who joined the 5-day executive Strategic Leadership program.

Dealing with change - more important than ever

“I love the diversity of cultures that I have found in the classroom. It is great to see that even people from other continents have the same difficulties for improving and similar goals to target. Also, hearing their different opinions makes the program richer, hence it helps you to think out of the box.” These are the words of Norma Fernanda (Colombia) who joined the executive Change Management program.
