Newsletter #1/2025

Introduction

As we step into 2025, MSM continues to drive meaningful change through education, research, and global partnerships. This edition of our newsletter highlights our commitment to addressing global challenges, fostering sustainable development, and strengthening international collaboration.

We start with the Dutch SDG Barometer 2024, which provides valuable insights into sustainability progress in the Netherlands. You can read all about the report in this newsletter article.

MSM's MBA programmes continue to be recognised among the world's best MBA degrees in the latest CEO Magazine's 2025 Global MBA Rankings. This recognition reflects our continuous commitment to high-quality education with a global impact.

Gender equality remains a critical global issue. Dr. Mulu Hundera and MSM's Dr. Ir. Huub Mudde have contributed to the discussion with a newly published study analysing gender dynamics in organisations. This research highlights systemic barriers in Ethiopia’s education sector, offering perspectives that resonate worldwide.

Our commitment to international academic collaboration is evident as 30 Master in Management students from Kuwait recently attended courses at MSM in Maastricht, gaining valuable expertise across key business disciplines.

On a policy level, MSM has been actively engaged in shaping global economic discussions. Through the AfriquEurope initiative, we are contributing to debates on trade and economic partnerships between the EU and Africa, bringing together experts from both continents to navigate pressing global challenges.

Our focus on education for sustainable development is further reflected in two new projects. The BURUDIGI project in Burundi is equipping young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills, while a vocational excellence initiative in Tanzania is strengthening climate-smart agricultural education. You can read more about both projects below.

Finally, our work in Rwanda continues to support self-sustaining innovation ecosystems. The recent National Roundtable on the STIC ecosystem brought together key stakeholders to explore the future of sustainable agricultural innovation.

With these impactful initiatives, MSM is proud to contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and globally connected future. We are excited to continue making impact in 2025!

Regards,

Meinhard Gans
Director
