Kazakh MBA students in Maastricht for European study attachment

A group of 18 students from the joint MSM-AlmaU MBA program from Almaty, Kazakhstan, brought a study-visit to Maastricht.

The students followed courses in Marketing in a Global Context and in Global Supply Chain Management.

During their two-week study visit they also conducted a work visit to Arion in Geleen. The Kazakh students learned all about how Arion, which was set up in 1994 by Mr. Erik Joosten, has grown from a one man operation to an international company, supplying medical aids from the Easy Slide donning and doffing aids and waterless bathing products not only for the elderly but all care recipients.

Mr. Joosten presented how the company flourished over the past 23 years and introduced the healthcare products Arion is producing. Above all he explained how these aids restore the dignity and independence to patients who have difficulties in caring for themselves while lightening the workload of the care givers.

After the presentation the group visited the Swash factory floor under the guidance of Mr. Martin Scholtz, Assistant to the CEO. The students were guided around the production line of the waterless products, from raw material to the end result, such as Swash products from wipes, shampoo caps to bathing gloves. After the tour of the factory Mr. Davy Fuchs gave a short lecture on supply chain management followed by Q&A session.
