Meet MSM's staff members: introducing Stefano Locatelli

At MSM we are proud of the more than 47 staff members who are committed and eager to fulfill our mission in offering management and entrepreneurship education, advice and research to individuals and organizations from all over the world. To become more acquainted with our staff members and to show you how it feels for them working at MSM we will each month highlight one of our staff members. This month the spotlight will be on Stefano Locatelli.

Let me introduce myself…
My name is Stefano and I am working as a Quality Enhancement Officer at MSM. I hold an MSc Econ degree in Politics & International Relations from Cardiff University, Wales (UK) and a Master’s degree in International Sciences from the University of Turin (Italy). During my studies, I spent an Erasmus semester in Riga (Latvia) and an internship semester at the Piedmont Regional Office for European Affairs in Brussels (Belgium).

After graduating, I worked for three years in the position of International Account and Sales Manager in a high-end textile company in Turin. This work experience showed me the importance of quality control throughout the process. If your aim is to develop an exceptional product, you have to ensure the highest quality from raw materials into finished products which is the responsibility of all persons involved. Furthermore, through this job I learnt how to capture the customer attention. I also learned all about cultural sensitivity as we worked with partners from all over the world. In 2018 I moved to Maastricht (NL) where my journey at MSM started.

I feel at ease when working and exchanging ideas with colleagues and students from all over the world…
Since I was a teenager, I was passionate about cultural exchange and working in an international environment. The choice of my study and professional career made that I have been immerged into an international and intercultural context. So this unique MSM environment and its mission to provide management education, capacity and development projects in both developed and emerging markets, gives me opportunity to fulfil my passion. I feel at ease when working and exchanging ideas with colleagues and students from all over the world…it makes me feel richer every day!

I am honoured to contribute to the development of so many young talents around the world!
For our Quality Enhancement Office it is important to connect with all other MSM departments to make sure that all gears do their part in order to make and keep the education machine working the way it should and to deliver high quality education. We get first-hand feedback of faculty, students and other stakeholders which allows us to get a better understanding of the different needs. This helps us to think about possible improvements in order to deliver the best education programs as possible.

After working in a business world, I found it great to switch to an education world. The years I spent studying at the university where fundamental to my personal development, in essence it made me the person I am today. Therefore, I understand what major impact a degree program can have in a students’ life. I am honoured to contribute to the development of so many young talents around the world!

In my spare time you can often find me…
Travelling! That’s where I spent most of my time, money and energy J .
From short weekends in the region to long backpacking trips overseas which is a great occasion to explore new places and cultures. My passion for travelling helps me to nourish the curiosity and open-mindedness that you need when working in an international education environment like MSM.
