DBA defense: The capability to implement Industry 4.0 concepts - an empirical study

“To me, being granted the DBA degree has been a dream for a long time.  My dream started to materialize the day I was accepted in the MSM DBA program back in 2017. The study, research work, and the guidance from my two supervisors have enriched me personally and have added a lot to my academic and practical career,” Dr. Kamel said after his successful defense.

About Dr. Kamel's research
Industry 4.0 is a new technological bridge that combines manufacturing with technology. It has potentials for economies in both the global North and South and is the current goal for many states to achieve. Industry 4.0 has its benefits in the areas of cost reduction, quality and better use of resources. It also has its challenges represented in high cost of implementation, the learning curve and data security. Utilizing a mixed-methods research approach, the study looks at the factors that influence the intention to adopt Industry 4.0. The analysis of data identified nine factors within the technological, organizational and environmental domains of a firm that have an effect over the intention to adopt Industry 4.0.

This study can be beneficial to researchers working in the field of technology acceptance and also to practitioners who are interested in Industry 4.0, its implementation, benefits and challenges. It also contributes to research in this nascent field.
