The SAS21 project has officially come to an end on the 30th of June 2022. To celebrate the achievements of the project a closing event was hosted in Chibubur, Java Indonesia on the 23rd of June 2022 for project stakeholders.

The closing event started with a welcoming speech from Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Daryanto the Dean of IPB college of vocational studies followed by an opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ir. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat Vice-rector for international affairs, collaborations and alumni relations of IPB college. Afterwards, Dr. Benny Bandanadjaja – director of Vocational and Professional higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and Mr. Hans de Brabander – Head of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands spoke of the importance of the project in relation to the revitalization strategy for vocational education in Indonesia from an Indonesian and Dutch perspective.
The closing event was furthermore used as an opportunity to reinforce the commitment of the project stakeholders, and in particular the educational partners and the private sector members, through the signing of LoA’s. Such commitment of the partners assures that the existing relations will be sustained and utilized for the overarching goal of strengthening the agricultural vocational education sector towards becoming practice-oriented.
After the signing ceremony the main program of the closing event started with two sessions on results, lessons learned and sustainability of the SAS21 project. The first session presented the overall project process and results, finishing with key insights and lessons learned from the project by the project manager of MSM. This was followed by a presentation of the curriculum development and teacher training by the main expert of AERES and two teachers from participating SMK’s and Polytechnics within the project. The second session enabled IPB experts to present the two pilot projects created for the poultry and dairy sector and their envisioned sustainability: eMoww dairy application and poultry closed-house training. After a Q&A session, a discussion was initiated on the challenges and the opportunities in the dairy and poultry sector in Indonesia and the role of vocational education, with the main input coming from the SMK and polytechnic principals and deans. Lastly, a conclusion and closing remarks were given by the project director.
The project consortium looks back at the closing event, and the project in its totality, as a prime example of successful cooperation between international partners toward achieving triple helix partnerships in the name of contributing to the revitalization strategy for a more practice-oriented agricultural vocational education in Indonesia. The intense co-creation process of the curriculum development and teacher training, the establishment of innovative collaborative pilot projects, and active engagement of multi-sector stakeholders resulted in sustainable outcomes including, but not limited to, modules for the poultry and dairy sector, and labour market and gender studies. All outputs will be further shared with potential stakeholders in Indonesia to enhance the impact of the project on vocational education.
