Introduction

As we approach the close of another impactful year, we reflect on the achievements, initiatives, and growth that have defined 2024 for the Maastricht School of Management. This year has been filled with milestones that highlight our commitment to excellence in education, research, and global collaboration.

We are proud to celebrate Maastricht University’s continued top position in the 2024 Better World MBA ranking, emphasising our dedication to sustainability and social impact in business education. This shows in the successful launch of our Global Online MBA this year, which currently has over 25 students following the programme. Our Executive PhD welcomed the participants of the second intake for an on-campus workshop, focusing on conceptual framing and the literature review. Additionally, our Short Executive Programmes have continued to attract and inspire leaders seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge. You can read more about all upcoming Short Executive Programmes below.

From a research perspective, MSM’s Diederik de Boer, Julius Gatune, and André Dellevoet explore the themes of state power, societal dynamics, and governance frameworks inspired by Why Nations Fail and The Narrow Corridor. Their insights shed light on the delicate balance required for sustainable development and the role institutions play in shaping a nation’s trajectory.

On the international front, MSM's Expert Centre on Emerging Economies has made significant strides with an impactful CB-VET project in Ghana as part of the EU Erasmus+ programme. Additionally, the team visited South Africa for the Platform of Vocational Excellence (PoVE) in Water conference, further strengthening MSM's global partnerships. Where one project begins, another ends. In this case, the first MOBILISE mobility programme ended with an evaluation mission and a final workshop here in The Netherlands.

This newsletter serves as a celebration of these achievements and a token of appreciation to all who make MSM a thriving hub of innovation and impact. Although we are heading into the new year in a few weeks, we can look back at 2024 with a sense of pride. In the 2024 Yearbook Video, our students share how they experienced their academic year at MSM.

Warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
