MSM Mission Huge Boost for Dutch-Azerbaijan Business

A delegation of 20 Dutch businessmen, political and educational leaders visited Azerbaijan from 22 - 26 April in the framework of an MSM-led business mission. During their visit, they received an exceptional honor from the President of Azerbaijan, met with six ministers, 160+ entrepreneurs, academics, CEOs of large state corporations, and had the opportunity to inspect the Sangachal Oil Terminal and to take part in one of largest ever King's Day ceremonies in the Caucasus.

Led by Senator René van der Linden, Chairman of MSM, and accompanied by Limburg Regional ministers Twan Beurskens and Bert Kerstens, former Limburg Governor Léon Frissen and MSM Dean Professor Wim Naudé, the delegation consisted of CEOs and managing directors of companies such as Seacon Logistics, Royal Haskoning, Kersten Europe, Royal Boskalis Westminster, WP-Haton, Mourik Groot-Ammers, Foeuren Boomkwekerij, Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg, Waterschap Peel & Maasvallei, Greenport Venlo, AKADIS, the Maastricht Health Campus as well as the Maastricht Academy of Music.

These companies benefited from a number of business to business meetings, visits to potential partner companies, and exclusive insights into the policies, regulations and business environment of one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

During the mission MSM Dean Professor Wim Naudé and Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev of the ADA University signed an agreement for the extension of their joint Executive MBA program, the only internationally accredited and only dual degree of its kind in the country.  They also announced further plans, in collaboration with the Maastricht Health Campus, to offer health management training to managers in the growing Azerbaijani health sector.

The Maastricht Music Academy represented by its Director Dr. Jan Rademakers, explored cooperation possibilities with the Baku Conservatory, to attract music students to Maastricht.

The mission concluded on a high note with MSM Chairman René van der Linden receiving a Presidential Medal of Friendship, the Dostlug Order of the Republic of Azerbaijan during a Kings Day ceremony held by the Dutch Embassy in Baku, and hosted by MSM’s partner, the ADA University. Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman announced that a follow up business summit will take place in the Netherlands at the MSM campus in October 2014. The mission proves once again that MSM is more than a business school: it is a world-class business experience.
