MSM graduation ceremony takes place on 4 September: save the date!

We are delighted to announce that our annual Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday 4 September of this year. On this occasion, the degrees of Master of Business Administration, Executive Master of Business Administration, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Business Administration will be awarded.

Each year MSM’s Graduation Ceremony is an international, multicultural and festive event. Students, whether based in Maastricht or from the school’s partner institutions across the world, will make the trip to the Southern Netherlands to receive their degrees, many of them with their families and loved ones. Buthan, Ghana, Syria and Peru are some of the countries that will be represented that day at MSM. Just as in previous years, many foreign ambassadors will also attend the ceremony to personally congratulate the students from their respective countries.

Memorable day
Graduation is an important milestone for students at MSM and we leave no stone unturned to ensure they have a memorable day. This year we have the privilege to welcome Mr. Koos Bekker, South African media tycoon and self-made billionaire, as a special guest to the Graduation Ceremony. Forbes wrote this about him:

"In 1985, as a consequence of a paper Bekker wrote at Columbia University, a young group in their early thirties launched M-Net, one of the first such pay-television services outside the US. At the time, Naspers was a 26% backer and Ton Vosloo the M-Net chair. Today the group operates pay TV across 48 countries in Africa and serves some 7 million households. Known as the “Rupert Murdoch of Africa”, Bekker, who has a net worth of $1.1 billion according to Forbes, owns a 1.1 percent stake in Naspers which has stakes in China’s Internet and instant messaging leader Tencent Holdings (run by Chinese billionaire Ma Huateng), Russian Internet giant Mail.ru, an instant messaging service for desktop PCs and mobiles and Brazilian media group Editora Abril, publishers of several magazine titles.
In 1991 the MultiChoice (subsidiary of Naspers) team under Bekker, together with partners, launched the mobile phone operator MTN. Today MTN is the biggest mobile operator in Africa and one of the largest companies on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). Currently, Naspers’s market capitalization is valued at R500 billion (US$45 billion). It is the largest media group outside the US and China, and larger than any in Europe."
