Welcome

This past month could not have started on a better note than with a visit from the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Mrs. Lilianne Ploumen. Addressing a full auditorium of students, faculty members, stakeholders and invited guests, she emphasized the crucial role that MSM graduates could play in their own countries, not only as skilled professionals but as ambassadors and partners for the Netherlands. “Business relationships and cooperation are built on people,” she reminded us.
As the remainder of this newsletter documents April was indeed a busy month for MSM as far networks, relationships and people were concerned. We deepened our relationship with our partners in Lima and Baku with our joint MBA cohorts arriving in Maastricht for their European attachment; we started cooperation with the Global Business School Network (GBSN) and with the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development (MACIMIDE); and we intensified collaborative arrangements for two international research conferences, the first on women entrepreneurship (8-9 May) and the second, on human rights and business (5-6 September) - both in partnership with Faculties of the Maastricht University.
The month ended, as it began, on a high note, with MSM leading a delegation of more than a dozen businessmen, provincial ministers and education leaders from the Netherlands on a business mission to Azerbaijan.
