Transformational leadership for the Sri Lankan public sector

From 5 until 12 July a group of 27 senior public officials from several Sri Lankan ministries, the army and universities visited MSM for a 6-day tailor made program on Transformational Leadership. MSM cooperated for this program for the second year in a row with the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka.

The group received a presentation by the Jonkergrouw Creating Solutions group on Leadership and the Triple Helix Multiple Stakeholders Concept while the Limburg Development and Investment Company LIOF informed the participants about their activities in Zuid-Limburg. At MSM the group participated actively in a simulation game of a multi-stakeholder roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil facilitated by MSM faculty member Huub Mudde.

The group also enjoyed three work visits to VDL Nedcar, a modern cattle breeding farm managed by the family Mingels and to the Dutch National Bank. At VDL Nedcar in Born the participants were informed about the reorganization after the company started to build the MINI for the BMW group. A tour through the factory gave a very interesting picture about this highly modern car producing factory. At the cattle breeding farm the participants received first hand information on the vision of modern farming and the influence of the constant changing rules of the Government and the EU. At the Dutch National Bank in Amsterdam the participants attended presentations on Monetary Policies of the DNB within the Dutch National economy and the relation with the ECB.
