Meet MSM's staff members: introducing Arsenio Kranenburg

At MSM we are proud of the more than 40 staff members who are committed and eager to fulfill our mission in offering management and entrepreneurship education, advice and research to individuals and organizations from all over the world. To become more acquainted with our staff members and to show you how it feels for them working at MSM we will each month highlight one of our staff members. This month the spotlight will be on Mr. Arsenio Kranenburg

Let me introduce myself…
My name is Arsenio Kranenburg, Facility Officer at MSM. My responsibility is to make sure that the MSM building and its services meet the needs of our employees, students, guests and customers by managing all of the required services.

I started my career in the early 70ths as a cable television technician in Rotterdam. During that time the cable television technology started replacing the conventional aerial systems. Working for so many different municipalities was a great experience. In 1985 I started as a manager of the first Wendy’s restaurant with a capacity of 120 seats in the city of Rotterdam. The Wendy’s company is the world’s 3rd largest quick-service hamburger company. Working in the hospitality and service industry in a city with 190 nationalities gave me the ability, confidence, good perspective and understanding to cooperate with different cultures. In 1987 I applied for the position of Housing Officer at RVB Delft (former name of MSM) where I was responsible for the accommodation of RVB students and participants, and the foreign staff members located in Delft, The Hague, Rotterdam and surrounding areas. In 1989 RVB moved to Maastricht and changed its name to Maastricht School of Management which made me move to Maastricht to further proceed my career.

Meeting and serving different levels of visitors and guests is a privilege. In my job I have the opportunity to develop relationships with Alumni, CEO’s, Ambassadors, Ministers and Royalties of different countries around the world. I want to make sure that all these people have the feeling that they are at home in a pleasant and safe environment. Our full conference facilities form an optimal work environment for organizing meetings in extraordinary atmosphere: international, professional, historic, business-like and friendly at the same time. MSM is situated in the heart of the EUregio, in the business center of the city Maastricht and surrounded by multinational organizations and institutes like Medtronic, Brightlands Campus, Maastricht University and the Provincial Government of Limburg. Being part of this community enables me to maintain a good relationship with our valuable neighbours. Next to this MSM is one of the members of the Maastricht Convention Bureau that works in cooperation with the Municipality of Maastricht, Maastricht Tourist Information and Marketing Office, the Maastricht Convention and Congress Center (MECC), and many more. During our meet, greet and information sessions we maintain ongoing relationships with our past, present and future customers to share, improve and make them aware of our services.

The aspect of my work at MSM that excites and inspires me the most is…
Working with MSM for so many years is a continuous learning experience. I meet so many different people from around the world and each person as his own remarkable story. These relationships have provided me with deeper knowledge and valuable insights about different preferences, cultures, behaviours and traditions.

What I mostly do in my spare time..
I like cooking, networking, collecting antiques, markets and spending quality time with my family. Speaking of my family, we represent 3 continents! My wife is Asian, my children are European and I am South American. So we are rich in culture, healthy and above all we live in absolute harmony, what more can you wish for?
