Executive MBA students dive into the world of organizational change

From 6 until 13 April 2019, the international group of Executive MBA participants followed their Changing World module at MSM with classes in Change Management by Dr. Geert Heling and classes in Leadership and Organizational Behavior by Dr. Stephanie Jones.

Change has become a constant factor in today’s business world. (Global) organizations constantly have to adapt to their external environment as well as make changes to their internal organization. The Change Management course by Dr. Heling provided the participants with the understanding and knowledge of the major principles underlying successful change management initiatives. The course also prepared the participants for the challenges of leading organizational change and renewal.

The class by Dr. Stephanie Jones addressed the connection between Leadership and Organizational Behavior. During this course, the participants explored topics like leadership roles and team leadership styles. Useful insights were given about the impact of the leader on an organization’s culture and change, and the influence of personality differences. To better understand, evaluate and apply the topics, each participant prepared a written reflective journal. Apart from this individual assignment, a group project enabled the participants to apply the topics discussed into practice.

A guest lecture by MSM Director of Education and Executive Development, Mr. Dave Cass, challenged the participants as a leader and mentor. To boost the confidence of the participants a case study was used to assess how good business analysis, decision-making and the application of leadership and management principles can be applied to a non-standard environment.

The MSM Executive MBA is a part-time program designed for working professionals to balance the pressures of work with study. The practice-oriented approach enables the participants to apply the newly gained knowledge and skills directly to the daily practice of their organization. The MSM Executive MBA can be customized according to specific study needs and career perspectives with eight business-related and industry-focus specializations like The Digital Economy and Healthcare Management.

Are you looking for an MBA program that you can combine with your job and personal responsibilities?  The next Executive MBA intake will start on 12 October 2019. More information about the program can be found on the program page.
