From safety and security in the Middle East to conservation in Africa and the business of sport in the Netherlands, March has seen MSMs Faculty, staff and students pursue a diversity of activities in that characterizes the essence of MSM. March also saw us establishing new partnerships closer to home in Europe (in the UK and Ireland) and further promoting our ongoing programs in Germany. All of these activities are in line with our mission to work together for better global management, and helps cement the business relations between the EU and Emerging Economies. And as Spring in Maastricht gathers momentum, it signals to our residential MBA class that it is now downhill towards the final weeks of their ‘pressure cooker’ degree. We wish them all the best for this critical period in their studies.

MSM promoting Sustainable Development in Afghanistan

Each year many students from across the world travel to the Netherlands to take part in our portfolio of Executive Education Programs in Maastricht. In 2013 Mr. Sadruddin Fakhruddin, Kabul, Afghanistan, travelled to Maastricht to follow the Managing Sustainable Development course. “Originally coming from the rural areas of Afghanistan I acquired a master level qualification and wider working experience in the development of the rural communities across the country…”

Can promoting shared prosperity help to reduce global poverty?

This was the question recently asked by World Bank researcher Mario Negre during a research seminar at MSM held on 5th of March.
Dr. Negre’s seminar is based on recent research of his that simulates the global poverty headcount under three growth scenarios for the bottom 40 percent up to 2030.

Fresh perspectives on conservation tourism

A new Springer publication co-edited by Jakomijn van Wijk (Maastricht School of Management), Rene van der Duim (Cultural Geography Group Wageningen University) and Machiel Lamers (Environmental Policy Group Wageningen University) was launched on 10 March at the office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WNF) in Zeist.

MSM welcomed a delegation from the University Campus Suffolk (UCS) on Monday to discuss possible collaboration between the two institutes. The discussions with Professor Naude centered on joint collaboration with regards to both degree and non-degree programs.

International Dutch soccer legend, Hans van Breukelen, and Camil Smeulders, founder and board member of the Orange Sports Forum visited MSM on 6 March 2015 to discuss their involvement in the promotion of a joint MSM and UM MBA program in Sports Management.

MSM alumna new marketing manager at General Motors Peru

Cecilia Riva Zaferson has been appointed as the new Marketing Manager of General Motors in Peru, as part of the firm’s strategic plans for 2015. Cecilia graduated in 2007 from the joint MBA program offered by MSM and CENTRUM Católica in Peru.
