Harnessing the full potential of e-Government

The 2018 executive education program on e-Government Policies brought together a diverse group of participants with different professional backgrounds and coming from various countries such as Iceland, Indonesia, Morocco and Nigeria.

During the program the participants enjoyed interactive expert sessions focusing on e-Government frameworks and e-Government policies.

Next to Joris Stadhouders, Assistant Professor for Management Information Systems and lead trainer in this program, also international e-Government expert Morten Meyerhoff Nielsen was teaching in the program. He engaged the participants in a series of workshops highlighting the relation between e-Government and Good Governance, the needs from a public sector perspective and a user (citizen, business) perspective including the implications for the back office and front office. Additionally he addressed the approach towards a personalized e-Government involving all key stakeholders, through the use of social media and mobile devices. The participants analyzed and discussed different worldwide case examples.

After an orientation on the factors that contribute to e-Government success, further emphasis was placed on the adequate formulation and the sustainable implementation of e-Government, including the associated hybrid roles for executives and managers in the context of e-Government. The positive energy of the teachers and their willingness to help was very much appreciated by the participants. Firly Andrisetiana Permata, inter-institutional relations analyst at the Ministry of Finance (Indonesia) mentioned: “I am very impressed about all trainers and the knowledge I obtained at MSM”.

The participants finalized the course with an integrated case analysis, presentation and discussion, in which they applied the different lessons learned throughout the program.
