Executive MBA Agribusiness in Ethiopia started
On Saturday February 9, intake one of Executive MBA (EMBA) in Agribusiness started in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with its two-years journey.
This EMBA is the first of its kind in the Horn of Africa, and came into being after two years of work by MSM, Jimma Universityand a group of business advisors. All students are experienced practitioners who want to upgrade their management capacities. The program will be strongly practice oriented in addition to lecturing by experienced Ethiopian and international faculty.
During the first weekend, students got to know each other better during an outdoor team building programme, facilitated by experts from the Centre for Creative Leadership. The group found out that there is a leader in everyone with hidden talents that can be nurtured in effective teams.
The EMBA is one of the prominent outputs of a multi-year Nuffic-funded project that aspires to achieve increased food security and agricultural growth in Ethiopia, create better access for Ethiopians to more and more nutritious food, and contribute to increased trade relations between Ethiopia and the Netherlands. MSM, together with Wageningen University & Research centre and Stellenbosch University, is developing the academic and organizational capacity of Jimma University to manage an internationally accredited executive MBA in Agribusiness, and an agribusiness leadership centre that will be offering market-driven executive training programs, consultancy, and contract research.
