Empowering Burundian Youth: MSM Leads BURUDIGI Project for Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills

Maastricht School of Management's (MSM) Expert Centre on Emerging Economies (ECEE) is thrilled to announce its newly granted project "Empowering Burundians with Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills for Current and Future Employment Opportunities", also known as BURUDIGI. This project, funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ initiative, aims to equip Burundians with the essential digital and entrepreneurial skills required to thrive in the modern economy and promote sustainable employment opportunities.

As the lead partner, MSM will oversee the project's implementation, coordinating with local and international partners to ensure the successful delivery of training programs. MSM will focus on capacity building for Burundian Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, ensuring that digital and entrepreneurial skills are embedded in their curricula. The project will also emphasize the importance of public-private cooperation to ensure that VET interventions are demand-driven and aligned with market needs.

By leveraging its expertise in management education and capacity-building, MSM will play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality, responsive, and innovative training solutions. These will be targeted at youth, women, and marginalized groups in Burundi, aiming to reduce the digital divide and foster economic growth through entrepreneurship.

The BURUDIGI project aligns with Burundi's National Development Plan and aims to promote inclusive growth, digitalization, and entrepreneurial thinking. Through its efforts, MSM and its partners will contribute to empowering Burundians, particularly the youth, by enhancing employability, fostering economic diversification, and supporting the development of sustainable livelihoods.

This project is part of the European Commission Erasmus+ program and will be managed by Antonella Maes-Anastasi, Project Consultants at MSM’s Expert Centre on Emerging Economies. The project will run from 1 January 2025 for three years.
