MSM Awarded Grant to Build Inclusive Centres of Vocational Excellence in Tanzania’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Sector
MSM's Expert Centre on Emerging Economies (ECEE) has been awarded a grant under the Erasmus+ initiative to lead the “Building Inclusive Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) for Skills & Employment Development in the Climate-Smart Agriculture Sector (CSA)” project in Tanzania.
This initiative aims to foster high-quality vocational education and training (VET) to support the transition to climate-smart agriculture (CSA), focusing on developing skills essential for the modern agricultural sector.
The project will be a collaborative effort involving four Tanzanian agricultural VET colleges, the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET), the American Farm School (Greece) and Green Valley Agro. The primary goal is to build capacity at VETs to educate students, teachers, and trainers, preparing them to meet the challenges posed by climate change through the adoption of CSA practices.
The project will focus on establishing local CoVE hubs, which will serve as stakeholder platforms to engage public, private, and civil society partners. Through this initiative, the VET institutions will be empowered to offer demand-driven, responsive, and digitally enhanced training programs, equipping students and professionals with the skills necessary to contribute to Tanzania’s sustainable agricultural development.
The project includes several work packages aimed at building capacity, fostering public-private partnerships, training VET staff, and ensuring the sustainability of the initiative. MSM will play a crucial role in facilitating international collaboration and ensuring the project's success.
MSM’s involvement in this project underscores its ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable local economic development in emerging economies, particularly by addressing the urgent need for climate-smart solutions in the agricultural sector.
This project is part of the European Commission Erasmus+ program and will be managed by Liliana Bedoya and Sandra Adriaansens, Project Consultants at MSM’s Expert Centre on Emerging Economies. The project will run from 1 January 2025 for three years.
