MsM nominated for Orange Carpet Award

Maastricht School of Management (MsM) has been nominated as one of only three finalists for the Nuffic Orange Carpet Award.  The Orange Carpet Award is created by the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (Nuffic) to recognize special initiatives taken by Dutch-based institutions to advance the internationalization of higher education.

MsM is being recognized for its innovative business mentorship program, through which it links its international MBA student corps to regional business and government organizations.  The essence of this business mentorship program is based on the recognition that networking and knowledge-sharing is the foundation of innovative, competitive business and good management.  MsM students hail from across the world - the current MBA class of 61 students consists of 25 nationalities from almost all continents. These students, all highly educated (a bachelors degree is a minimum admissions requirement) and in management positions themselves, bring critical perspectives to local and regional businesses and other organizations. In turn they learn much from the world-class expertise and management practices of Dutch firms and organizations, particularly in areas such as agri-business and water management, chemicals and materials, logistics and transport, life and health sciences and participatory local government.

The business mentorship program links these MBA students one-on-one to senior managers from the regional business community and governmental institutions.  The precise content of the mentorship is determined by the mentor and the student together – it is an equal partnership. It can include professional exchange as well as activities in the cultural and social sphere.
Currently more than 20 senior managers from various companies and organizations are participating in the MsM mentorship program.

The Nuffic Orange Carpet Award finalists will be presented during the Nuffic Annual Conference in Utrecht on 11 March 2014. The audience will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite candidate and as such will play a substantial role in the final decision. The jury will select the winner of the award.
