Launching a specialized diploma program on Sustainable Development Management

From 3 - 5 December 2019 Dr. Diederik de Boer, Director International Projects and Consultancies at Maastricht School of Management was in Lima, Peru for the closing of the one-year Tailor-Made Training (TMT) on “Developing a specialized diploma program on Sustainable Development Management” and the launch of the training that was established.

Over the course of 2019 the specialized diploma program has been composed after thorough research at the 22 most important organizations in Peru. During this research internal and external aspects, accountability and citizenship of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have been examined in the agro, construction, mining and manufacturing industry by Ms. Cecilia Rizo Patron.

Through the outcome of this research, 6 modules have been developed to give middle management handles to learn about and improve CSR management. The developed outreach program consists out of the following modules: Sustainability tools, Soft skills, Peruvian National reality, Finance, ESG risks management and Innovation.

From Maastricht School of Management, Dr. Wynand Bodewes was involved in setting up the module on innovation and Prof. Meine Pieter van Dijk shared his extensive knowledge and input to set up the finance module. Dr. Diederik de Boer managed the one-year project and designed the specialized diploma program.

The program launch
On Thursday the 5th of December the specialized diploma program on Sustainable Development Management was officially launched at the Dutch Embassy in Lima. The event was opened by the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Peru Ms. Nathalie Lintvelt. The event was well attended and also many Peruvian (MSM) NL alumni joined to get a first insight of the newly launched program.

The first group of students of the specialized diploma program on Sustainable Development Management will start in March 2020.

 

Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme
This Tailor-Made Training is part of the The Orange Knowledge Programme which is a €195-m Dutch global development programme, available in 53 developing countries and managed by Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organisation for internationalisation in education. Launched mid-2017, it aims to have provided tens of thousands with the possibility to change their future through education and training by mid-2022.
