A new view on conservation tourism
The program manager of our Sustainable Tourism Management (STM) executive course, Dr. Jakomijn van Wijk, conducted a joint research to examine the development of tourism conservation enterprises by the African Wildlife Foundation in Kenya. The research looked at tourism conservation as a new organizational form that links local communities with tourism entrepreneurs, and used case studies to analyze the merits and challenges of its implementation and identify ‘best practices’ in conservation tourism.
